Martin Siebert is a winemaker from Victoria's Yarra Valley with a penchant for cool climate wines. He believes great wines can only be made from great sites and sources his fruit from sites that can deliver some of the most interesting wines in the Yarra Valley.
A gem of a find, we are just so excited to bring this drop to you. This is a marriage of Pinot Noir grown on one of the Yarra Valley's coolest sites with that of one of Yarra Valley's warmest. The former brings the bright fruit and spice whereas the latter brings depth and fine tannin structure. The two wines were made with a gentle touch, using wild yeasts, 60% whole bunches and a long gentle soak on skins. Neither wine seemed complete until they were blended together shortly before bottling. Think Campari, dark cherries and charcuterie. Lovely drinking now but it is also one for the cellar where it will develop some really interesting earthy characters. Panel tasting notes: gorgeous wine and great price, we hear some would pay $50 without blinking an eye!
under the liquor control reform act 1998 it is an offence to supply alcohol to a person under the age of 18 years (penalty exceeds $17,000) and for a person under the age of 18 years to purchase or receive liquor (penalty exceeds $700)
here at squashed grapes we are passionate about great wine so let's all be responsible through drinking in moderation and for the love of wine (oh, and food which we think goes hand in hand)
